Juliet Thornton MA MBACP
I am a qualified psychotherapist and have extensive experience gained through my time working for Leeds Counselling, Leeds Metropolitan University Counselling Service and in private practice.
Before training to become a therapist, I was a chartered surveyor and worked for many years on land and property projects throughout the UK.
I have experience working with clients who bring many different and often difficult life-long issues. I work with clients over a few sessions or for many months, sometimes up to two years.
In 2011 I graduated from University of Leeds with MA Psychotherapy and Counselling and am qualified to practice as a psychotherapist and counsellor.
How I work
Many people experience tough and difficult times and sometimes overcoming them feels too difficult to cope with alone. Sometimes, events or accidents happen unexpectedly, or the outcomes of decisions we make are disappointing or relationships with others are difficult or fail.
Working with the right therapist can offer the opportunity for hope that life can be better. It is possible to change habits, gain more control in your life, build self-esteem and for healing to take place and life to improve. As a result, it is possible for you to make new choices and change old ways of being that have caused difficulties that often lead to anxiety, depression and other problems.
At the heart of my work is the relationship that I build with each client. It is important that you feel safe and that you can trust me. I am understanding and empathic and will listen and not judge.
We can work for a few sessions or over several months. The length of therapy will depend on your needs, wishes and the issues you bring. I will always try to work in ways and at a pace that are appropriate to you and your story.
